Burger Hut: How We Helped Them Sell LKR 1.5M in Just 48 Hours

About Bruger Hut

Burger Hut is a well-established Sri Lankan fast food brand. It’s known across the local market for its affordable pricing, consistent quality, and loyal customer base. With a growing network of outlets across Colombo and beyond, Burger Hut needed a food-ordering platform Sri Lankan customers could trust and use directly, without losing the affordability that built its reputation in the first place. As the brand moved deeper into the digital space, protecting that value proposition became the priority.

Challenge

Burger Hut needed a large-scale digital transformation. The goal was to increase direct online sales and reduce reliance on third-party delivery platforms. However, third-party services were driving up menu prices through commissions and service fees. This undercut the affordability that made Burger Hut popular in the first place, despite the brand already operating its own delivery fleet. As a result, rather than a full rebrand, the challenge was to revitalize the existing brand and build the infrastructure to let customers order directly.

Approach

Brand Revamp

Rather than redesigning the logo, Yellawt refreshed Burger Hut’s existing brand. This included brand revitalization, creative direction, updated marketing assets, and consistent application across every digital touchpoint.

Social Media Marketing

Yellawt delivered ongoing content creation, social media management, paid advertising, campaign strategy, and promotional campaigns. Together, these built engagement and awareness.

Custom Ordering Platform

At the center of the project, Yellawt designed and developed a fully custom online ordering platform. This was a complete web application rather than a standard website, and it stands as one of the most complete examples of a food ordering platform businesses have built for direct sales. The customer experience included branch selection, pickup or delivery, and a streamlined four-step ordering process. It also featured live delivery fee calculation based on location, online payments and cash on delivery, and OTP verification for cash orders above a set threshold. Additionally, a full promotional engine supported product offers, Buy One Get One deals, and discount campaigns.

Three dedicated portals supported the platform. First, an admin portal handled menu, product, branch, promotion, and user management. Second, a cashier portal provided a live order dashboard, preparation tracking, and dispatch management. Third, a finance portal covered sales reporting and order monitoring.

Importantly, the platform was built with future expansion in mind. It’s capable of onboarding multiple restaurants with independent menus and storefronts, giving it the flexibility to operate as a marketplace beyond a single brand rather than staying a single-brand tool.

Digital Strategy

Since Burger Hut already operated its own delivery fleet, the platform let customers order directly at standard menu prices, paying only the delivery fee. This improved customer value while increasing direct sales for the business. The platform launch was supported by paid advertising, social media campaigns, a dedicated website launch campaign, and customer awareness initiatives.

Results

The launch generated approximately LKR 1.5 million in sales within the first two days, demonstrating strong customer adoption. Overall, the engagement delivered a revitalized brand, sustained social media growth, and a fully custom ordering web application with dynamic pricing and secure payment verification. It also included complete operational management portals and a scalable architecture built to support future multi-restaurant expansion, reinforcing what a well-built food ordering platform Sri Lankan businesses can rely on actually looks like.
